Ceramic rings for laser cutting heads

The ceramic ring is the wear part that electrically insulates the nozzle from the body of the laser cutting head. It is chosen according to the head model. We supply it as a genuine part, as the authorised ACME dealer in Romania.

  • Role: Electrical insulator between nozzle and head body
  • Selection: By cutting head model

About the Ceramic rings

Product details

Two ceramic rings, one with the threaded metal face up, the other showing the ceramic face and the contact pin

What the ring does

The ceramic ring sits at the lower end of the cutting head, directly below the TRA sensor: the nozzle screws into it, and the ceramic body insulates it electrically from the rest of the head.

The cutting gas also passes through the ring, on its way to the nozzle.

Material that withstands heat

According to the manufacturer, imported ceramic is combined with a special alloy that expands at the same rate when heated, so the part does not crack.

The ceramic and the metal ring are tightly joined, with a finely finished surface.

When to replace it

It is a wear part, like the nozzle or the protective lens in the same head. It is replaced when it cracks after an impact with the workpiece or from spatter thrown up during cutting, or when it no longer insulates the nozzle properly from the head body.

How it is chosen

The manufacturer states that the rings fit the cutting heads of the leading manufacturers, but does not name any. The correct version, with the right thread and height, is determined from your head model, not from a catalogue.

FAQ

Questions about the Ceramic rings

Are ceramic rings interchangeable?

No. Each cutting head needs its own ring, because the thread and height differ from one head model to another. An unsuitable ring either will not screw in or will not insulate the nozzle properly.

How does the sensor signal pass through the ceramic ring?

Through two elements mounted in the ceramic body: a silver conductive adhesive and a gold-plated copper pin. According to the manufacturer, this assembly offers good electrical conductivity, high sensitivity, good tracking and effective insulation. The manufacturer adds that the design of the pin reduces the risk of the sensor being affected on impact.
