T Series— Laser cutter for large tubes and heavy profiles
The T Series is the top of ACME's laser tube cutting range: a 3-chuck machine for structural steel and shipbuilding fabricators who cut I-beams, H-beams, channels and large tubes. Ø30–840 mm, lengths up to 12.5 m, up to 40 kW of power, parts up to 3 t, ±45° bevel cutting, zero remnant.
4 models for round, square and rectangular tube, I-beams and H-beams, angles, channels and special shapes, in lengths up to 12.5 m.
02
±45° bevel cutting
The tube or profile comes out ready for welding, with the weld prep cut in the same pass and no separate bevelling station after cutting. ACME's bevel head received the 2023 Ringier Technology Innovation Award.
03
Zero remnant
The 3 chucks work in sync: the tube is cut along its full length, including the last part, with holes at both ends and intersection cuts.
04
Static cutting: only the head moves
ACME developed this technology for heavy profiles: the profile stays still, parts come out to size and cycle time is shorter.
05
Semi-automatic loading, automatic unloading
The integrated loader loads material in 10 seconds, special profiles included, and cut parts are unloaded automatically: the operator does not lift heavy profiles by hand. This is also how the LT-12055TKA in our own production facility works.
Key capabilities
The T Series difference
Full-stroke pneumatic chucks
They clamp heavy tubes and profiles across a wide range of sizes, with high force: part changeovers take less time, and clamping is more stable.
Low centre-of-gravity bed
The bed is side-mounted, with a low centre of gravity. It is rigid and vibrates little during cutting, so accuracy holds even on long batches.
T Series
Cutting profiles and large-diameter tubes.
Technology
Inside the T Series
01 / 02
±45° bevel cutting
The head cuts at an angle at high power, in multiple weld-prep shapes. Edge preparation for welding becomes part of the cutting program, as a routine operation.
02 / 02
Static cutting
The heavy profile stays clamped and still while the head travels along it. No vibration is transmitted to the part: dimensions are held and processing time drops.
In operation
Easy to commission
Self-centring support
Closely spaced, servo-driven supports: centring and clamping are automatic over the full stroke, with no operator intervention. The support adapts on the fly to small tubes and large profiles alike.
The middle chuck moves and keeps the short end of the tube under control, so cutting stays stable. More of the material is used, and the parts come out identical.
A 12-metre profile goes in whole and comes out with its holes cut, bevelled and cut to length, with no trip to the saw or the grinder. The T Series is the top machine in ACME’s range for this kind of work, handling parts of up to 3,000 kg (1,400 kg on the 12036TKA, the smallest in the range).
If parts go beyond Ø350 mm or 1,850 kg, the G Series can no longer take them; from there the T Series takes over, up to Ø840 mm and 40 kW. The TN Series covers the same diameters, but with four chucks and an optional 15 m bed, for long profiles that tend to sag.
Below Ø30 mm, the range continues with the E or TF Series.
FAQ
Questions about the T Series
What tube diameters does the T Series cut?
The T Series cuts tubes and profiles from Ø30 to Ø840 mm, depending on the model: Ø30–350 mm on the 12036TKA, Ø30–540 mm on the 12055TKA, Ø120–640 mm on the 12065TKA and Ø200–840 mm on the 12085TKA. Small diameters, from Ø30 mm, go on the first two models, while the 12085TKA starts at Ø200 mm, for the largest sections. On all four models, the maximum tube length is 12,500 mm.
What does ±45° bevel cutting mean on the T Series?
On the T Series, the cutting head cuts the edge of the part at an angle, up to 45° in either direction, in the same pass as the cut itself. The weld prep comes straight off the machine, with no separate milling or grinding and no second clamping. Bevels are cut on tubes and profiles as weld preparation; angle sections are not bevelled.
What does “zero remnant” mean on the T Series?
It means the T Series also cuts the last part from the tube, with no end piece left to scrap. The minimum remnant is 0 mm on all four models: the 3 chucks hold the material right to the end, and the middle chuck controls the short end. More parts come out of the same tube, whereas standard machines leave an end piece that can no longer be used.
What laser power does the T Series have?
The T Series works with laser sources of up to 40 kW. On the 12036TKA, the smallest model, the range is 1–40 kW, and on the 12055TKA, 12065TKA and 12085TKA it is 6–40 kW. The exact power is set in the configuration we recommend in your quotation, according to the material being cut, the wall thickness and your production volume.
What profiles can the T Series cut?
The T Series cuts I-beams and H-beams, channels, angles and special shapes, as well as round, square and rectangular tube. The profile goes in whole and comes out cut to length, with all its holes, without passing through the saw or the drilling machine. The integrated loader also takes special profiles. The machine is designed for heavy structural steelwork, industrial buildings, shipyards and industrial machinery.
How does the T Series differ from the G Series?
The difference is part size: both series have 3 chucks and a minimum remnant of 0 mm. The T Series cuts Ø30–840 mm, in lengths up to 12.5 m, with up to 40 kW of power and parts up to 3 t, with a focus on heavy structural profiles. The G Series covers Ø10–350 mm, with 1–30 kW and parts up to 1,850 kg. When parts go beyond Ø350 mm or 1,850 kg, they are cut on the T Series.
What footprint and workpiece weight does the T Series have?
T Series dimensions vary from model to model: the 12036TKA measures 29,100×4,000×3,400 mm (length × width × height), the 12055TKA 30,500×4,050×3,750 mm, the 12065TKA 30,500×5,000×3,400 mm and the 12085TKA 31,500×5,500×4,000 mm. The maximum workpiece weight increases with the model: 1,400 kg, 2,100 kg, 2,600 kg and 3,000 kg respectively.
