D Series— Laser tube cutting machine for series production
The D Series is ACME's best-selling tube cutting machine, built for fabricators who cut heavy tubes or work in dusty, slag-heavy conditions. It comes in 2 models (6012D and 6018DB) for round, square, rectangular or oval tube: Ø8–180 mm, 6 m tubes up to 300 kg, and a chuck speed of up to 200 rpm.
Cuts round, square, rectangular or oval tube in 6 m lengths and up to 300 kg: Ø8–120 mm on the 6012D, Ø10–180 mm on the 6018DB.
02
Fast chuck and short remnant
On the 6012D, the chuck turns at 200 rpm, so the tube rotates quickly between cuts. The remnant is short: less unused material is left at the end of each tube.
03
Gantry structure
The gantry structure does not deform even after years of use, and cutting accuracy stays the same.
04
Low running costs
The machine is compact and takes up little floor space. It is easy to install and simple to operate, and running costs stay low. Changeover from one part to the next needs no lengthy set-up.
05
Free technical support
ACME updates the system and the nesting software free of charge, provides ongoing online technical guidance, helps with drawing complex parts and supplies video operating guides. You lose fewer hours to downtime.
06
2-year warranty
A 2-year manufacturer's warranty from ACME, as standard.
Key capabilities
The D Series difference
Double-roller jaws
The roller jaws hold thin-walled tube firmly without deforming it: the section keeps its shape and the part comes out to size.
Short remnant
The rear chuck is extended and passes through the front chuck, so it pushes the tube almost to the very end. A minimum remnant of 65 mm is left from each tube.
Sealed chuck
The chuck body is fully enclosed, so slag and dust cannot reach the mechanism. Fewer breakdowns, and accuracy that holds over time.

Technology
Inside the D Series
01 / 03
Fast travel and rotation
On the 6012D (Ø8–120 mm), the chuck travels at 110 m/min, rotates at 200 rpm and accelerates at 1.5 G. More parts come off the machine every shift.
02 / 03
Gantry structure
The gantry keeps beam vibration low, so cutting accuracy is maintained even over long-term use.
03 / 03
Optional loader
The compact loader is optional and costs little for what it delivers. One person can supervise multiple machines: the same output with less labour.

Common-line cutting of different shapes
The nesting software places parts along a shared edge, so a single cut serves two parts. Time and material are saved on every batch.
The control cabinet, the laser source and the machine body come assembled as one unit, not as separate modules. The machine takes up less space and is easier to install and maintain, and the laser source does not need an air-conditioned room.
Spatter and dust are removed from inside the tube during cutting, so the inner wall stays clean and the part no longer needs deburring. Fumes are extracted at source and do not spread through the workshop.

Spatter is removed from inside the tube while it is being cut, so there is no separate deburring step. Changeover from one part to the next needs no lengthy set-up. The D Series is ACME’s best-selling tube cutting machine, for Ø8–180 mm and 6 m tubes up to 300 kg.
The A Series covers the same diameters, but it is designed for speed on small tube. The D Series also handles heavy tubes and has a sealed chuck that keeps dust out. Above Ø180 mm or 6 m in length, move up to the E Series.
FAQ
Questions about the D Series
What tube diameters and lengths does the D Series cut?
The D Series cuts tube from Ø8 to Ø180 mm: Ø8–120 mm on the 6012D and Ø10–180 mm on the 6018DB. Tubes are loaded in 6 m lengths, with a maximum tube length of 6,300 mm, and can weigh up to 300 kg. On both models, a minimum remnant of 65 mm is left at the end of each tube.
How fast does the chuck rotate on the D Series tube laser?
The D Series chuck rotates at 200 rpm on the 6012D, the model for Ø8–120 mm, and at 120 rpm on the 6018DB, which takes tube up to Ø180 mm. Maximum acceleration is 1.5 G and 1.2 G respectively. On the smaller model, the chuck also travels at 110 m/min.
What laser power is available on the D Series tube laser?
On both D Series tube models, the 6012D and the 6018DB, the laser source is 1–6 kW. The power range is the same, and the models differ in maximum diameter, chuck rotation speed and acceleration. The exact power is chosen according to the material being cut, the wall thickness and your monthly production volume.
How does the D Series tube laser differ from the A Series?
The difference lies in tube weight and working conditions: the D Series takes tubes up to 300 kg and has a sealed chuck, protected from slag and dust, while the A Series is designed for speed on small tube. Both cut tube up to Ø180 mm. If you cut heavy tubes or work in dusty, slag-heavy conditions, the D Series is the right choice.
How much floor space does the D Series tube laser take up?
The D Series tube laser measures 9,310×2,380×2,600 mm on the 6012D and 9,310×3,300×2,600 mm on the 6018DB (length × width × height). The two models have the same length and height and differ only in width. No extra space is needed for the control cabinet or the laser source, because they come mounted on the machine. The source does not need an air-conditioned room either.
What warranty does the D Series tube laser come with?
The D Series tube laser comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty, like all ACME machines. Consumables (nozzles, protective lenses and ceramic rings) are not covered by the warranty. Commissioning, maintenance and repairs are carried out by our own technicians, and we keep nozzles, lenses and critical components in stock in Romania.
