The DT Series is a single laser machine for both sheet and tube, built for fabricators who process both materials. It comes in 3 models, with sheet up to 12,000×2,500 mm, tube Ø8–280 mm and 1–60 kW of power. The table changes over in 15 seconds, and the enclosure surrounds the machine on all sides.
One machine cuts both sheet and tube, so you need fewer operators than for two separate machines.
02
Two machines in one
Sheet and tube are cut on the same machine: you make a single investment and need floor space for only one machine.
03
Fast switching between sheet and tube
Switch quickly from sheet to tube and back, so you get more parts out per shift and cover different orders on the same machine.
04
High-precision cutting
Accuracy is the same on sheet and on tube, and parts come out consistent from the start to the end of the batch.
Key capabilities
The DT Series difference
One machine, two functions
Cuts both sheet and metal tube on the same machine. ACME states that, among the combined sheet-and-tube machines on the market, its machine has the best tube-cutting capability.
115 m/min speed, 1.5 G acceleration
The gantry, with extruded aluminium crossbeams, is driven by two servo motors. The head moves quickly from one contour to the next, so work runs efficiently on sheets of different thicknesses.
Table change in 15 seconds
While the machine cuts on one table, parts are unloaded from the other and the next material is loaded, so little time is lost between operations and efficiency rises by more than 30%.
Technology
Inside the DT Series
01 / 03
Aerospace-grade aluminium crossbeams
The crossbeams are extruded: they do not deform, and they are tough, light and corrosion-resistant. Because the gantry is light, processing runs faster.
02 / 03
ACME chuck
It clamps with eight cylinders, with twice the force of a standard chuck. The tube passes freely through the square bore, so any metal tube between Ø8 and Ø250 mm can be processed in batch production.
03 / 03
Support that follows the tube
It adjusts itself to the rotation of the tube, so the part does not fall or get knocked. The support stays close to the cutting zone throughout the operation.
In operation
Easy to commission
Automatic nozzle changer
The machine automatically fits the right nozzle for the sheet type and thickness, so there is no need to stop the machine and change it by hand.
Sheet and tube go onto the same machine, and switching from one to the other is quick, so more types of order fit into a single shift. The sheet format reaches 12,000×2,500 mm, and tube runs from Ø8 to Ø280 mm.
The second table is prepared while the first is under the head; swapping them takes 15 seconds, and efficiency rises by more than 30%. The enclosure surrounds the machine on all sides.
The ST Series stops at 6,000×2,500 mm, Ø250 mm and 1.8 tonnes on the table. The LHM Series pairs plate with heavy profiles rather than with tube.
FAQ
Questions about the DT Series
What models and formats does the DT Series offer?
The DT Series has three models. The 4020DT12 cuts 4,000×2,000 mm sheet and Ø8–120 mm tube, the 6025DT26 reaches 6,000×2,500 mm and Ø15–250 mm, and the 12025DT28 12,000×2,500 mm and Ø15–280 mm. The tube length is the same as the table length: 4,000, 6,000 and 12,000 mm. All three work with 1–60 kW sources and an acceleration of up to 1.5 G.
What does “2-in-1” mean on the DT Series?
It means the DT Series cuts both sheet and tube on the same machine, without a second machine. The difference shows in the investment, in the floor space and in the number of people needed to keep it running. It processes the same materials as sheet and as tube: mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium alloys, brass and copper.
What chuck and diameter range does the DT Series have?
The DT Series has an ACME chuck with eight cylinders, which clamps twice as hard as a standard one. Its bore is square, so the tube passes through without being guided. For the chuck, the manufacturer gives a range of Ø8–250 mm, while its specifications table goes up to Ø280 mm on the 12025DT28. On the small model, the 4020DT12, tube ranges from Ø8 to Ø120 mm.
How long does the DT Series table change take?
On the DT Series, the table change takes 15 seconds: in that time, the full table moves out and the prepared one moves in under the head. This is where the efficiency gain of more than 30% quoted by the manufacturer comes from. The table load depends on the model: up to 1.6 t on the 4020DT12, 4.8 t on the 6025DT26 and 16 t on the 12025DT28.
What speed and acceleration does the DT Series have?
The DT Series works at 115 m/min with an acceleration of up to 1.5 G, the same on all three models. The gantry crossbeams, made of aerospace-grade extruded aluminium, are light, so the gantry starts and stops faster, and the two servo motors that drive it move the head quickly from one contour to the next.
What protective enclosure does the DT Series have?
The DT Series has a full protective enclosure that surrounds the machine on all sides. All three models have it, together with the automatic nozzle changer and closed-loop air pressure control: the machine automatically fits the right nozzle for the sheet, and the pressure is measured and corrected on the fly.
How does the DT Series differ from the ST Series?
Both cut sheet and tube on the same machine, with 1–60 kW sources. The ST Series is the compact version: sheet up to 6,000×2,500 mm, tube up to Ø250 mm and a table load of up to 1.8 t. The DT Series goes up to 12,000×2,500 mm, tube up to Ø280 mm and 16 t on the table, and also has a table change in 15 seconds.
How much floor space does the DT Series need?
The DT Series footprint increases with the size of the working area. The 4020DT12 is 11,100 mm long, 4,700 mm wide and 2,600 mm high. The 6025DT26 measures 15,500×5,700 mm, at a height of 3,100 mm, and the 12025DT28 measures 31,000×5,700 mm, also 3,100 mm high. On the two larger models, width and height are the same; only the length differs.
