D Series— Laser sheet cutting machine with dual shuttle tables
The D Series is a dual-table laser machine for series production of sheet parts. While one table is under the laser, parts are unloaded from the other and the next sheet is loaded; the change takes 15 seconds. Four formats, from 3×1.5 m to 12×3 m, 1–60 kW power and thicknesses up to 100 mm.
Metal sheet 3–12 m long, 1.5–3 m wide and up to 100 mm thick, from the standard 3×1.5 m workshop format up to 12-metre plates.
02
Two tables that swap over
The change takes 15 seconds. Nobody has to wait for loading or unloading: working efficiency rises by more than 30%.
03
Dynamics to match
Extruded aluminium crossbeams and a drive with two servo motors: the machine performs just as well on thin sheet as on thick plate.
04
Frame welded from thick plate
An interlocking tab-and-slot structure, built to take heavy loads. The frame members are laser cut, welded and then machined in a single set-up on a large gantry milling machine. This keeps the frame stable during cutting for years.
05
Finished parts in a single pass
9-stage piercing, dross-free cutting, clean micro-joints, flying cuts and cut-path tracking: the machine runs the process itself, from piercing until the part is cut free from the sheet.
Key capabilities
The D Series difference
High speed and acceleration
Two servo motors and extruded aluminium crossbeams deliver a positioning speed of up to 132 m/min and 1.5 G acceleration. The machine loses no time between cuts, whatever the sheet thickness.
Interchangeable shuttle tables
The tables change over in 15 seconds, with no waiting for loading or unloading, and efficiency rises by more than 30%. The machine is designed for high volumes: the table loaded in the meantime moves in for cutting after the 15-second change.
Fieldbus control
The control system runs on a fieldbus: it is simple to operate, responds promptly, has many functions and is safe in operation. Unplanned stoppages are rarer, and the machine has a longer service life.
Technology
Inside the D Series
01 / 03
Interlocking tab-and-slot frame
The frame is designed and built at the manufacturer's factory: thick plate is laser cut and welded, then stress-relieved by annealing and by vibration, and finally machined in a single set-up on a large gantry milling machine. This way the frame keeps its geometry even after years of cutting.
02 / 03
Aerospace-grade aluminium crossbeams
The crossbeams are made of an aluminium-magnesium alloy: they do not deform, are light and stay stable at high speeds.
03 / 03
Clean cutting
The frame is well sealed, with a side extraction duct and a powerful fan. Dust is extracted zone by zone, and the cut comes out cleaner and more accurate. The cutting area is fully enclosed for operator safety.
In operation
Easy to commission
Automatic nozzle changer
The machine changes the nozzle automatically, without operator intervention. The nozzle and lens are always kept in good condition, consumables last longer and working time is saved.
This machine pays off where sheet comes in as a continuous flow: while it cuts on one table, the other stands outside, with the parts ready to lift off and the next sheet laid down. The table change takes 15 seconds, and on the 12030D the table holds 12 metres of sheet and 30 tonnes.
Thick plate is tackled with nine-stage piercing, so the start of the cut does not throw out molten metal and burrs. The S Series stops at 12,000×2,500 mm and 16 tonnes on the table. Sheet longer than 12 metres can only be cut on the LP Series.
FAQ
Questions about the D Series
What materials and thicknesses does the sheet-cutting D Series handle?
The sheet-cutting D Series cuts mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium alloys, brass, copper and other metal sheet, in thicknesses up to 100 mm. The maximum thickness you actually reach depends on the material and on the source power chosen from the 1–60 kW range. Sheet formats run from 3,000×1,500 mm to 12,000×3,000 mm, depending on the model.
What does 9-stage piercing mean on the sheet-cutting D Series?
It means the sheet-cutting D Series pierces the material in nine process stages rather than in one go. This lets it tackle very thick plate, up to 100 mm, and hard materials without the usual problems at the start of the cut: the molten pool blowing out, dross, spatter and burrs. Piercing is part of the automatically controlled process, from piercing until the part is cut free from the sheet.
Can I load the next sheet on the D Series while the machine is cutting?
Yes, that is what the D Series has two tables for. One sits under the head for cutting, while the other is outside the enclosure, where parts are unloaded and the next sheet is laid down. When cutting is finished, the tables swap over in 15 seconds, and working efficiency rises by more than 30%.
What sheet formats do the four D Series models cut?
The D Series has four models, one for each sheet format: the 3015D cuts 3,000×1,500 mm, the 4020D 4,000×2,000 mm, the 6025D 6,000×2,500 mm and the 12030D 12,000×3,000 mm, for 12-metre plates. The maximum table load increases with the format: 0.9 t, 1.6 t, 4.8 t and 30 t respectively. All four reach a positioning speed of up to 132 m/min and 1.5 G acceleration.
What laser power can be fitted to the sheet-cutting D Series?
The power range is 1–60 kW, the same on all four sheet-cutting D Series models, from the 3015D to the 12030D. Power is chosen according to the material, your usual thickness and your monthly production volume: there is no point paying for kilowatts you do not use. With the right source, the machine cuts thick plate up to 100 mm.
How much floor space does the sheet-cutting D Series take up?
The footprint of the sheet-cutting D Series increases with the table format. The 3015D takes up 8,550×2,200 mm, the 4020D 11,100×3,500 mm, the 6025D 15,500×4,150 mm and the 12030D 27,600×8,000 mm (length × width). Height ranges from 2,400 mm to 3,200 mm. On every model, allow for the space at the side where the second table moves out.
